Ways of worshipping (Mangsewa) in Kirat religion
Guru Ashram, Banjho 9, Mangsebung, Nepal.

There are many ways of performing worships in Kirat religion. Kirat people worship to the nature. That's why all the life supporting essential natural elements are regarded as God images. It has been clearly mentioned in the Kirat Samjik Mundhum (Scripture). The mundhum that keeps the Kirat religion alive is the main element of Kirat religious rites and rituals. The cultural and social phenomena which are concerned to Kirat people can't be completed without mundhum. Worships (Mangsewa) have been conducted by chanting mundhum from the beginning of human being creation.

At the initial stage we should perform Sewa (Prayers) with certain Kirat religious norms and values. This is the Kirat Samjik Mundhum which guides the ways of performing Sewa (prayers).

Mangsewa should be performed three times a day. The ways of performing Sewa (prayers) three times are called Tanchho Sewa (Morning Prayer), Lenjo Sewa (Noon-Prayer) and Yunchho Sewa (Evening prayer).

First of all we should have a bath before taking praying session. We should purify our body with holywater. There after we should collect the worshipping materials. We should make ready oil lamps (Diyo), water and flower holding glasses (Kalas),  silver and gold sprinkling holywater holding glasses (Wajang); wicks, incense, offering rice grain (Achheta) flowers, barley etc to perform Sewa (prayers).

We should keep in mind that whether individual or common Sewa (prayers) is being conducted. Three 'Diyos' and three 'Kalases' are enough if an individual Sewa (prayers) is to be conducted. If worship is conducted in Manghim (temple, shrine) at least three Diyos and three Kalases are needed.

When worshipping materials get ready, we should pose for mangsewa (prayer). There is no certain way of posing for Sewa (prayers). After posing, the Kirat Samjik Mundhum (Scripture) should be placed on white piece of cloth. Then we should offer flower and rice (Achheta). We should light all Diyos (oil lamps) before beginning the Sewa (prayers). We should light all the Diyos (oil lamps), incense and wicks. We should chant holy words after offering flowers and rice (Achheta) to the volume of the scripture.

This mundhum is written in the scripture. It says 'Oh God, creator of everything, I regard you. You are the master of Mundhum, master of religion, master of all kinds of activities, master of the universe. I regard you. Please don't let any disgrace to me for conducting Sewa (prayers) with the mundhum (That you have created) In this way we should chant mundhum (holy words) to worship the Kirat Samjik Mundhum.

Ota Tagera Ningwa Bhu Mang Nissemang Sekkhamang, Ota Sapyok Lingyok, Kuyok, Chokphungmang, Ota Khwatlung Thakfut Mangnge. Ota Mangnge Sewaro. Ota Mennimang Mendhmang Nisse Sekkhamang, Mangling, Mangketma, Manglak Pokmma, Ota Wajiri Wajang Sewa Phungjiri Phungjang Sewa. Keoppa Namdit Ladit Handit Ondippanu Namgun Mikhu Lagum Mikhu. ( Kirat Samjik Mundhum Lak Thik Kusang Sema. Lak-Thik Sigangba Sewa Samjik Mundhum)

After chanting this mundhum we should perform mangsewa (prayer) for three times. Then we should begin to read the volume of Kirat Samjik Mundhum. At first we should read Tagip Sewa. It is called Tagip Sewa Samjik Mundhum. This mundhum says-There was nothing existed before creation of universe. There was no sky, no earth, no air, no water. There was only an enormous darkness. So it was not meaningful to God, then he (Tagera Ningwa Bhumang) created all kinds of natural elements to suit the universe. The five elements came into existence in this way. Human beings were also created in the same way. This description is the good-message from God (Tagera Ningwa Bhu Mang); and good message from Sawa Yehang (Originator of Mundhum -Supermind). We have been worshipping to god by adopting this good-message of God. We have worshipped to be perceived in God we have worshipped as the divine-message made by Thakthakumhang Phalgunanda Lingdenhangma.

All the natural elements including sky, earth, air, water, fire should be invoked by mundhum. This mundhum is called Manglak Phongma Mundhum. This mundhum is read in this way.

Ota Tagera Ningwa Bhu Mangnge Ota Tarak Tangsang Mang. Ota Kejangding Sarit Mang. Ota Midhung Mirak Mang. Ota Chabhat Thungwa Mang. Ota Iksa khambek Mang Huksogen Hukphak Sewaro.

( Kirat Samjik Mundhum Lak Thik Kusang Sema. Lak-Thik Sigangba Sewa Samjik Mundhum Manglak Phongma Samjik Mundhum.)

Manglak Phongma worship should be performed by chanting this mundhum. Kusang sema should be performed after invoking all the god-images or natural elements. Manglak Phongma mundhum should be chanted earlier than kusang sema mundhum. Kusang sema shouldn't be performed without chanting manglak Phongma mundhum. (We should keep in mind this one) This mundhum has been composed with in 28 paragraphs.

All the existed elements in the universe and all deities are and purified by chanting this mundhumm, it is called Kusang Sema Mundhum. This is read in this way.

Ota Tagera Ningwa Bhu Mang Nara Kenara manglak Pokma Mang Sewa. Ota NinngeSang Pokma Mang Sewa, Ota Sambang ek Pokma Mang Sewa. Ota Ningesang Sema Mang Sewa. Ota Sambang ek Sema Mang sewa. Ota SeSe Sang Sang Sang Ota Sediding Sebha Kuing Sewaro.

(Samjik Mundhum Lak Thik Kusang Sema. Lak-Thik Sigangba Kusang Mundhum.)

Mangsewa (Praying to the God) should be performed for three times after chanting this mundhum. It is time to play the musical instruments after performing worship. All the musical instruments (Which are placed in worshipping place) should be played forcely by invoking their divine power. Mundhum is chanted by intending to invoke divine-power of these materials. Every musical instrument posses its own power invoking mundhum. This mundhum is called Mang Chigak Mundhum. It is contained in Kusang Sema Mundhum from Kirat Samjik Mundhum part 1. We should chant the mundhum and pray by offering holy water, flowers and achheta (offering rice) Bless begging begins only after completion of this phase. The mundhum that leads the prayer to God is called Tanchho Yunchho Samjik Mundhum. This mundhum contains 42 paragraphs. This mundhum begins in this way.

Ota Tagera Kesinggen Panumang Hangsam Theba Mang Nawa Kechait Manglak Pokma Mang Sewa. Ota Suwending Asunu Yuma Mang, Nawading Chaitdangma Sendi Pesapdangma Tungunwarkdangma, Mikkiphungwadangma Mang Nawakechait  Manglak Pokma Mang Sewa.

( Kirat Samjik Mundhum Lak Thik Kusang Sema. Lak-Thik Sigangba Tanchho-Yunchho Sewa  Samjik Mundhum).

It is prayed to God for blessing of power pride, life-span etc. by chanting this mundhum we should chant the mundhum for life-span in this way.

Ota  Mangma Mang Tagera Ningwa Bhu Mangnge Thangdiding Thangwetchek-wetchek Kattangngo. Mugaplung Kappha Kattangngo. Mudaklung Takpha Kattango. Kebula Sa nu phokwa Kirat Sa Ningwa laklummeo Lingpit pode yungsingeaang Mangsiwakhahun Aayukteo.

(Kirat Samjik Mundhum Lak Thik Kusang Sema. Lak-Thik Sigangba Tanchho-Yunchho Sewa  Samjik Mundhum).

Mangsewa should be performed once again after completion of this mundhum. After this kusang sema should be performed once again. Religious musical instruments should be played forcely even if the performance of kusangsema goes together.

We should put the holy ash on the forehead after completion of every prayer. An act of putting holy ash on the forehead has its own religious meaning. Invoking mundhum of holy ash is mentioned in kirat samjik mundhum Part 1.
